Part P is the section of the Building Regulations that covers electrical safety in homes in England and Wales. It does not stop you changing a light fitting, but it does apply to bigger jobs.

Which jobs are notifiable?

Fitting a new circuit, replacing a consumer unit, most new work in a room with a bath or shower, and most work on outdoor supplies or garden buildings.

Why it matters

Notifiable work must be either certified by a registered electrician or inspected by Building Control. Without the right paperwork, you could have trouble selling your home or making an insurance claim.

How we handle it

As members of a competent person scheme, we notify the work for you. You get our certificate straight away and a Building Regulations compliance certificate a few weeks later.
